Let us pretend
Like children
Leave the world behind
In the distance.
———–
Far away
Into a fantasy land
Where we can dream
Together.
———–
Lost in each other
Lost in the act
Lost to reality
Lost to the world
———-
Close the door
Shut out the commotion
Just pretend
And hold me close.
———-
Whatever we lack
We can find it there
Within each other
Hidden inside.

Written for Theme Thursday
I like your poem. The idea you present is so true for many. Maybe that is why we write… we too are longing to leave the world behind and enter into a fantasy land. And the words on paper (or screen) give us the ability to do so. Keep writing, my friend!
Wonderful!

I want to pretend too and really want to enter your world. It sounds wonderful and safe. Close the door and then search together to find what is inside. Oh if only sometimes life could be like that and we could share such a special place with the someone who holds the key to our hearts. I think that the world would be such a happy place and the happiness would spread like the seeds of a love plant throughout all the lands. Life would be different then with no wars, no hurts, no ills, and just be full of joy and love. But alas, the pretend world then becomes reality, and life must go on as we know it.
Can we just pretend for a few minutes more?
I really enjoyed this poem and it is a wondrous joy to read. Thanks for sharing it with this weeks Theme Thursday. May you have a great week.
God bless.
Thank you. Alan
