The Fence

fence

Are you listening?

Over the fence

I’ve asked before.

———

God, are you there?

Behind the fence

Hiding from me.

———–

I’m sure you are there,

Close to the fence

Near to me.

 ———–

I can’t see you,

Hid by the fence

Out of my view.

———-

I know you are there

Take down the fence

And let me see you!

————

I hear your voice

From beyond the fence

The fence is my unbelief.

I think you have to take down that one! 🙂

I agree with Rosemary’s comment. Smiles.
Or else perhaps you have to find a way to poke holes in it.
(But really…I do understand your feelings…and sometimes there seems just NO way around.)

  4. Sherry Marr says:

Oh now, this poem really hits home………a stellar closing line! Really well done.

Your final revelatory and confessional line tie this poem up with a nice, tight bow. Kudos!
