The Avenue at Middelharnis

(The Avenue at Middelharnis – Meindert Hobbema)

 ——————————

Parallel

Promises

Solemn Avenue

In nature’s cathedral

Gradual depressions skirt springs revival

Joy’s elevation rises towards an intimacy of truth

There in flat meadows, deep ditches of autumn stillness reflect the season’s pattern

Struggling to believe this kaleidoscope is by chance

Theoretical wisdom shrouding isolated lies

In God’s creation

Life’s jubilation

Logical

Perfect

I don’t believe this kaleidoscope is by chance….too perfect to be just chance. There is nothing like nature’s cathedral, I don’t think! So much to ponder in your words.

  3. aprille says:

This is very well thought out and executed to perfection. It is also illustrated by one of my favourite paintings. Nice one Alan.

  4. Kim Nelson says:

Alan, You are rocking the Fibonacci form! Your piece is visually appealing, literarily spot on and filled with imagery that makes us appreciate the patterns in this great, universally shared designed. I am so glad you shared today!

  5. peggygoetz says:

I like this whole thing Alan. The words, the meaning as well as the shape of the poem. And thanks for all the commenting you are doing these days!

  6. Mary says:

Alan, visiting you another time. Just have to say that I am so impressed with your poetry and with your sense of community. You really DO ‘rock.’

  7. Sherry Marr says:

Interesting and thought-provoking…….I believe the patterns of the world, the cosmos, our physical systems, are all far too intricate and magnificent to be random. It is those patterns that make me a Believer. Loved your poem. It made me think.

  8. Agree-this is not a random accident of design…the perfection of logic is evident.Lovely poetic testament to God. What is this form ? Fibonacci or something else.

  9. Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade) says:

I like the way the line with the word ‘pattern’ is the turning point.

God;s creation is a beautiful miracle indeed.
