Every Day

live-every-day

I breathe

My heart beats

Blood flows through my veins

 ———–

The wind bites my face

The sun warms my skin

The rain covers me in coldness

———–

I feel the same pain

I cry the same tears

I am trapped by the cruel knife of time

 ———–

 Equality is not a concept

It is not a theory

Or a social action

———–

It is the way you look at each other

The way you value each other

The way you accept each other

The way you listen to each other

———–

Celebrate who you are

Dance with the divine

Listen to the melody of freedom

Taste the acceptance of love

———–

Every day is a day to embrace who you are

Every day is a day to learn

To listen

To change.

I like this point you made here, plus what follows. It is all in how you look at each other, listen, treat one another. Wise poem here, Alan.

  4. Every day is an invitation to change. Sadly, many of us do not accept the invitation.

  5. Yes!
Learn. Listen. Change. Those are vital to personal evolution, vital to achieving one’s potential.

so true in that man….we often think of it as tangible things…but that is a great definition of it…and i am all for celebrating who you are….

  7. Margaret says:

Yes. I just commented somewhere else. It is about society and women themselves respecting, listening, valuing choices. That is equality.

  8. Sherry Marr says:

I absolutely adore this poem – a mantra for seeing each other as humans, rather than as gender-specific. Very beautifully written. My fave response to the prompt, kiddo! And written by a man. Yippee! Such awareness is to be celebrated.
