Dragons of smoke, that earthward drift
Harmless, helpless, rise as breath’s cloak
Between mountains, rich, sacred gift
Dragons of smoke.
—–
Killing winds passion, life awoke
Oozed from the wounds, thunderous shift
Gathered reflections, white fire choke
——
Livid rage, burst echoes adrift
Love dances as heavens blood soak
Stream silent souls, eager and swift
Dragons of smoke.

I love it! “dragons of smoke!” I love “between mountains, rich sacred gift” very much. Great write, Alan. I adore clouds……
Different shades and moods of clouds , I see here:)
They are the dragons of smoke indeed… loved the imagery throughout.
I like your idea of clouds being dragons. What beautiful and vivid imagery!
We are dragons of smoke aren’t we?
Silent souls eager and swift, God breathed breath’s cloak, life awoke, heaven’s blood our sacred gift.
Good work!
Dragons of smoke are great images.
I like the description of clouds as ‘dragons of smoke.’ And that you mentioned that though they are dragons (which sounds kind of ferocious) they are harmless and helpless. Like dragons, they definitely CAN be swift! Nice one, Alan.
i am rather a fan of dragons…and finding things in the clouds….that last stanza rocks as well…there is good energy in it…it took me reading it twice but i got you…smiles.

Nice. I like clouds, and now I’ll think of them as dragons of smoke. Thanks Alan. What a really good write.
Loved the metaphor. Your choice of rhyme imbues the peace with a lyrical energy – a kind of classical epic pulse.
The rhythm in your poem is hypnotic ….

I, too, like your imagery here … I love how we humans project a mood to clouds as they whirl across the sky … it is a wonderful testament to our collective imaginationood write, Alan!. G
