Zip! Something just went by
In a flash
Thunderous moving air
Displacing sky.
—–
There he was chasing the stars
Wrapped in space and clouds
In the silhouette of the mountain.
—–
In dreams of speed
Decided in fractions of moments
Splendor or disgrace
Rushing in the wind
“Gold conquers all!”

The speed of some of these champions is indeed incredible. I like the image of the skier casing the stars and the energy we can feel in your words, Alan!
ha you only have a fraction of a second for sure then you are flashing downhill to make those decisions…and each one takes you closer or further away from medaling
Oh yes, the winner or loser determined in fractions of a moment…so much depends on just a little burst at the right moment. You have captured the feeling here, Alan!
oh yes the winner, good write; have a nice Wednesday
much love…
And boy do those fractions of seconds count!
It takes me too long to decide on toothpaste and ice cream. Those split second decisions and movements are amazing!
Yes the speed is amazing. But even just being able to compete makes him/her a champion!
This is great! I’m there!
This is fantastic!! I felt like I was there at the Olympics! Wonderful word paintings!!
You nailed it …nicely done
Yes it is very exciting to watch the Games from my bed at 4 am in the morning… the down side of living at the bottom of the world. The speed and the athleticism is incredible and you have captured this in your poem. Well done Alan.
I can’t imagine going at those speeds. What a thrill it must be, not just to win, but to compete. Nice write.
Alan, excellent write! Feeling the wind on my face, they are amazing 🙂
‘Displacing sky’ .. A fantastic visual image!
It is amazing how not even a full second can change everything for these athletes! It’s so fun watching the skiers (from my warm spot on the sofa!).
A wonderful poem about capturing that elusive gold in what are becoming tougher and tougher playing fields.
