Red sky at night shepherd’s delight
Dragons and wolves
Rumours of wings
Dispel the light
Violet and mauve
Dark amethyst
Cold rain shadows
In a sanctuary of darkness
Listening
As a drizzle of petals
On opal white apple trees
Kiss the colours of balm
Red sky in the morning shepherd’s warning.

So many hues of a beautiful sunset 🙂
smiles….nice play on that adage….we are getting pounded by rain…what is good for one is not for another you know….the water gives and takes all at once…
Sunsets like the beauty you have described take my breath away .. your poem did as well.
A drizzle pf petals on opal white apple trees makes a heart sing.
Very nice Alan with all the vivid descriptions. Good prompt!! Beautiful photo as well–wondering if you took the picture.
Interesting… we’ve always referred to them as “sailors” rather than “shepherds”… lovely poem, Alan.
Playing on the old weather adage is such a neat way to build your strong images! This is a rich piece, Alan.
love the beautiful display of colors in your words…very vivid lines…
I like how you’ve turned the ‘Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight/red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning’ into two pieces of delicious bread holding the filling consisting of the colours and other descriptions. Very nice idea, and a great write!
I would love to bathe in your sunset description.
Love all shades of red in your poem, Alan. ~ Thanks for theme~ Happy May!
