Tonight I talked in the pub with Brian
Of summers playing cricket as lads
Of shouting preachers on God TV
Of internet discussion
Of body, soul and spirit
Of ying and yang
Of premiership predictions
Of days of laughter
Of moments of affection
Of years of friendship
And he cannot fail to see
That it is impossible
To set aside such bonds
Forged in the furnace of laughter
And the hope of expectations,
fueled with the cherished dream
and the love of Christ.
For some things are beyond words
and will last for eternity.

So true!
A friend for life is a wonderful treasure indeed. People who have them are blessed.
Well said. 🙂

Some things are indeed beyond words and we feel we cannot quite express how we feel about them. Friends belong to this category.
hey, my name is brian…and i would gladly sit down with you at a pub…smiles
conversations between long time friends is a pretty amazing thing
and in the end it doesnt matter what you talk about
it will be good…
I love those friends you can talk to about anything.
I always look forward to seeing what you will send us from England! And this does have that English lilt. What a nice tribute to a long friendship.
This is lovely, Alan …. last two lines amazing.
Now that is a valuable friendship!
yes some things are beyond words….true
The good thing is there are sacrifices among friends that are not talked about but accepted as an obligation. And that’s why the ties sustain. Great write alan!
Hank.
Good for you Alan. I am pleased you have a precious friend in your life.
Those are the very best friends… The ones you can talk to about everything and nothing at the same time! Brilliantly penned!
