The Secrets Of The Sea

2769742954_913cdb58a7

Realms of whispers

No power on earth

For depths so frail

And spirit so strong

Converge with ministering herons

Adorned in ghostly white

Roar into emptiness

Arresting me

For peeling grace

In waves of goodness

Immerse my heart

Into the forgiven season

Into the shallows of night

I dive

Who can know

The secrets of the sea

Woven into dreams

Lost in sunken chambers

Locked with ancient keys

Hidden in ancient maps

Discovered by the brave

In a realm of treasured mystery.

Even though our maps of seas and oceans are no longer ancient and probably pretty accurate, there is still so much we do not know about the sea.

Lovely immersion in the sea here Alan. And yes the sea has so many secrets. Actually I can’t think of anyplace in England where people would willingly dive into the sea–perhaps with a warm suit (or whatever those things are called) Thanks for responding to my prompt.

Enjoyed the poem, and liked the shape…kind of looked like an arrow pointing down (to the depths of the sea?)…and then a bell at the end (a ship’s bell perhaps?). Unintended? Perhaps another secret the sea is trying to reveal?
