Carpet of stone
Patterns embrace mystery
Spray splashing off granite
A thousand crystal tears
In this somber garden
Of unmarked graves
This field of sea-eaten hopes
Touching every dark eye
As gulls cry over streaked pebbles.

The traveler stretches from his sleep
Slowly his ivory hand touches every fear
As if, he was answering,
Gently caressing another light,
For there in the sea smoothed bottle
Sand strokes glass
And draws time into his hands
Reflected in the mirror of his face
And shrouded from every doubting stare.

The ledger is now cleansed
As the sea washes each fragment
With a mesmerized silence
This is what the heart yearned
An aspiring moment in a silver frame
And frailty of recollection
This thirst of sacred water
Touches each trembling heart
In the harbour of loves anticipation.

I loved this – I can only aspire to write as finer piece as this.
Yes, as we travel through life, that yearning for something more than just this material world grows. Beautifully written. I love how the ledger is now cleansed.
pretty amazing how the ocean can transform a simple glass with its motions…and i like how you use that as well and our own need of that from the father…
Delightful
It is amazing how the sea can wash each fragment as it does….and also smooth out the rough edges over time.
A lot of beautiful images in this poem, Alan. I particularly like the idea of this carpet of stones being a ‘somber garden of unmarked graves’.
As the sea washes each fragment
With a mesmerized silence
This is what the heart yearned
Beautiful word craft Alan! One will always yearn for self to be cleansed and unstained by any human failings!

Yes the magic of transformation. So many very lovely images here. Excellent prompt
Your images are beautiful and stirring, a really nice response, have a good Wednesday, happy you dropped by my blog
Much love…
Alan,
I enjoyed writing for your prompt about Pebbles…The beach area is always a refreshing place to visit, if one needs a fresh period of contemplation. The pebbles and the waters seem to help with the clarity sometimes required..Washing away the angst and leaving the answer sitting on the solidity of the cleanly washed rocky forms…

Alan, this is gorgeous! So many beautiful images and emotions woven together. I really enjoyed this write 🙂
Nicely written. Loving the clean slate…
Beautiful images and spiritual overtones as in the thirst for sacred water needed to quench the ever increasing materialism of this parched arid world. Very nice.
A lovely expression of the quest for the metaphysical pinned against a geological eternity.
A thousand crystal tears great words
I loved the use of words! Wonderful poem…. 🙂
