Sometimes

JR10_ambush_1941-1944

Sometimes it’s time…

To

Avoid deserts

And gather quietly

On high ground,

Stay tuned

And stand still

as your heart quietly waits .

But most of all

Breathless

Helpless

Watch

The ever-rolling spheres of heaven.

  1. Mary says:

It is always good to gather on the highest of ground, I think. Easier to see the ‘ever-rolling spheres of heaven.’

  2. Gabriella says:

Love the metaphorical meaning of these words, Alan. It is always better to look up.

Agreed with Gabriella.. it certainly adds a spark to the poem πŸ˜€
    Its written quite beautifully..!
Have a great week ahead πŸ˜€

  4. Alan,

We can react in haste at times to a particular situation, without taking time to think..Placing ourselves out of harm, perhaps on higher ground, gives us time to think and collect our thoughts..Calm the beating heart..

Thank you Alan for your prompts and your interaction via comments etc at Poetry Jam. I’ll miss it, but hope our words meet in Poets United, or at another venue.
    Eileen

How difficult it is for many people to just take the time to stop and look, and listen and appreciate everything around them, Alan… Your poem captures so well what they are missing.
