The moment is at hand
Through misty silences
The air is calm and still
—
For carpets of wildflowers
Gleaming gold embroidery
Marigolds, buttercups and dandelions
Weave their floral tapestry
—
And on quiet roads
Sun bathed stones in solitude
Entertain lazy days
As birds dart relentlessly above
—
Flight on flight in sapphire sky
Swallows catch the breeze
Each adventurous return
Born in hope and prayer
—
The air is calm and still
Through misty silences
The moment is at hand

Love. You capture the calm and the immediacy. I feel deeply:
“Each adventurous return
Born in hope and prayer”
Ah, each day should begin with hope and prayer…as we realize the moment is at hand.
love the meditative tone, and the beautiful imagery associated with soft summer hours…the lines Susan quoted are my favorites too….
So beautiful my heart took flight and joined the birds in that beautiful sapphire sky.
Summer at its best!
And on quiet roads
Sun bathed stones in solitude
Entertain lazy days
As birds dart relentlessly above
So beautiful…so serene…well penned 😀
Loved these summer sketches, esp. the images of third verse 🙂
I think we are slightly less envious of the birds than we were many years ago but travelling in a metal tube is still no comparison!
‘The moment is at hand’ – beautiful conclusion to a happy poem.
A wonderful collection of summer images.
I love how these thoughts wander and wonder so beautifully and then return full circle..it’s like taking a walking mediation…
What a beatiful reminder to savor the summer, the day, the moment. I loved this!
Lovely poem, reminiscent of classical pastorales! Really enjoyed this one, Alan!
