Power

Rhythms pulse with ancient ripples

Secrets shared in thunder’s domain

As polarized flashes light endless night

And silence rests in our acceptance

Try not to breathe

Try not to fall

As memories erupt from chaos

And cloudy regrets whisper sins

Every shard

Falls like water into sand

And turns liquid before my eyes

I never thought of the cost

As your power shines inside my mind.

Totally enjoyed reading this and feeling the power spoken of with such power. It made me think of the kind of weeping that comes after temper and tantrum moves two apart. WOW!

could be a power of distance, or much needed distance.

I like the power of calm acceptance of the storms….nice images all through…..the closing lines shine with power..

  5. Jae Rose says:

Perhaps with power comes a release – crying..expressing ourselves…i suppose that is empowerment…the ultimate power is that which we hold within ourselves – our best wish is that it is for good..a poem that certainly made me ponder!

  6. Myrna Rosa says:

Beautiful poem. It is a deep meditation about the power within us to accept those shards and powerfully transform them to peace. At least that’s how I hear this.

This is so beautifully written, Alan. I especially love the glass shards pouring like water into sand……a transformation of mood occurs in this poem.

Most succinctly expressed Alan! One can only lament on what the powerful can do and they did! One has to unashamedly conform and which is what is happening in the political power play right now!

Hmmm, yes… Great power comes at great cost. Great power can destroy as easily as it can create!
