Catch your breath in an invisible stranglehold For pain wears a heavy velvet cloak Empty words Empty hours Time lies in vaults Written on hills A sonnet that never rhymes A picture we cannot explain.

Her knitting needles clicked away In time To the music   Hard of hearing With a shawl around her head   Unperturbed Unfailing regularity   Every click Rang out A relentless anthem of time That captivated my heart.

Immersion In the wilderness Clasp the hand Know the way In the lifting of a weight Comes a special peace

Throbbing sun Concourse of wildflowers Underneath a carpet   Golden, ripe, harvest Treasure covered budding tree Where hidden happiness grows.
