Hands Of Time

ClockNearMidnight

Another day flies

Another written letter

Another scribbled note

Another hidden text

Another word of reassurance

Another whispered fear

Another hollow scream

Another dream shattered

Another poured out heart

Another hem to touch

Another promise never to leave

Another forgotten tear

Another forsaken tree

Another palm engraved

Another hand reaches out

Another new beginning

This makes all the difference, another hand reaching out ~ May we always make full use of that time for another one ~

Oh yes those hands of time do fly with all those things going on. Glad there is a hand reaching out as well–leaves the poem on a positive note.

Very creative take on the prompt, Alan. Your use of anaphora repetition throughout, imbues the piece with the monotone quality of a “list” which, when juxtaposed against the closing lines, is dramatic and uplifting.

  7. Mary says:

The repetition in your poem works, Alan; and the hand reaching out definitely can inspire a new beginning.

  12. Alan,

I enjoyed this journey through some of the trials and experiences life can thow at us. In all of the happenings, hands hoped to soothe and do the trick of helping..
A realistic experience in well chosen words..

It is good to leave behind us those things that we can no longer change or influence, and to try to move on and begin afresh, learning from past mistakes. Beautifully written, Alan.
